Josh40601's Build Thread. (D-ranged)

Now that i have a newborn and am a fulltime student, i cant keep working on it, so i have to pay people to do it.

6000 fu--ing dollars for a oem d44 swap:icon_surprised:

no......

no no no thank you.:shok:

i actually feel sick over just reading this

its not quite OEM D44. Coilovers, engine cage, detroit locker, slugs, driveshafts, diff covers, Ballistic junk, blah blah

Been a hot minute, but I got some new parts. Got the slugs for the front axle. I'll be running stock hubs on the street, then when I hit the trails, will just swap these slugs in for wheeling.

Also picked up some 64" chevy rear leafs and a manual 1350 t case.

Steering is almost done, Engine cage is all gusseted up, and track rod/Panhard bar mount is being fabbed up now. Still hoping to get it done by halloween weekend

All the brakes are redone and installed both front and rear. Limit straps are installed. I'll post up some pics tomorrow night

Well I promised pics...

So i have been thinking about it for a good long while, and decided that I am tired of the 94-97 front end. I am going to be putting a 2006-2010 front end on the truck. I am picking up the fenders tonight, and will piece everything together before making the swap. I will be swapping core supports as well. Hoping to have the new front on by the end of the year.

Here is a little reminder of what it looks like:

Steering is almost wrapped up, battery is ready to be mounted, was waiting on bumgs, but got those now. Should be getting the steering and maybe the track rod done tonight or tomorrow. I'll keep you all updated!

Kyle, are you running full width or EB? do you have a build thread anywhere?

Steering all tacked together! Track rod is in too, but I havent gotten pics yet

I think i read in another thread that you can take the "puck" out of the slugs, put the cover back on, and have an unlocked front end. sounds like a lot less work than swapping the whole hub.

try it, let me know if it works. that way i can go ahead an get some slugs instead of a set of hubs :D (my axle has neither right now)

build is looking great. i can understand not having the resources to do stuff yourself. i just made a pretty big purchase at James Duff so i can get a little caught up on my build.

You can take them out, but depending on which set you have, you may not be able to put the covers back on, some fasten to the puck or slug. I have a set of factory ones (held in with a snap ring) I have been putting in and taking out using a press in chrome hub cover.
