Josh40601's Build Thread. (D-ranged)

Just shy of 3 bills, not as bad as I thought it would be.... Detroit never warrantee'd it though, the vendor ended up giving me inner D60 shafts for my new axle instead.

Now, enough thread jacking, hahaha

its not thread jacking when I am the one asking all the questions! lol

After this weekend, the spring rate in this thing sucks, and i need a power steering cooler, like yesterday.
What do you guys think about the Derale Heat Sink Coolers? What size should i go with?

bigger cooler you can fit! i guess.. i don't even know what you're talking about

when's the awesome rear bumper come in?

Any cooler is better then no cooler, but a traditional finned cooler up front would probably be more effective. Might think about increasing resevoir size as well, and if your having lots of overheating issues I'd be changing the fluid and seeing what you can do there. I never had much for issues with P/S, even in the rocks all week at 40*C/100*F temps all day long... it just didn't wanna steer much without hydro-assist!

You don't have a Power steering cooler on yours?

Nope, just the factory resevoir and fresh fluid before the trip. It got hot, but never enough to cause noise, or any issues. It puked out the cap a few times when I leaned on it to try and move rocks (didn't like that much) but other then that it worked well.

When you go to a softer coil set up front it will help settle the truck and make it feel more stable off camber as the suspension actually works and quit's trying to wobble/balance it's way over obstacles. I ran into the same thing with mine and was gonna run the 300ppi Superflex coils until the overhaul happened....

if his truck is turned slightly it always looks like that.

maybe even with his wheels straight. idk.

Did you get radiator for an auto?? If so, use the trans cooler for the PS...Also, do to the junkyard and grab a cooler from any fullsize ford van (mid 80's+) they are about 12x12" and come with ample length lines to attach to the return side of the PS pump....
SVT

i dunno if you were accelerating or somthing but it looks like you could probally build a little more stretch into that front end

Benny Answered it. As i have said it a bunch.
As the suspension compresses the front wheels move foward

Nope. Just a normal Manual. I am going with a little trans cooler mounted on the radiator tapped into the return line.
