Josh40601's Build Thread. (D-ranged)

That is the exact reason i did it. I wont ever do it again, i can tell ya that. I just stopped by the shop to check on D and drop off the Coilovers. Its getting disassembled tomorrow and ordering all the joints and heims from Ballistic on Monday

What happened? Looks like you had a good project going there (that is obviously unfinished in your pics, so I'm curious as to why you're ripping it apart?)

I welded up the radius arms wrong, so i would have to have them redone, not to mention the passenger side axleshaft was not done and i really wanted it SAS. So with those problems and the cost to get that fixed, i just decided to cut my losses and go with the straight axle

I'm going to turn this page into a build thread. I also have one on Pirate 4x4 that I will keep updating, if anyone gives a flying fart

Ah, I remember that thread over there.

Cool deal then. I'm not sure I see how redoing a couple radius arms is more costly than than procuring a whole 'nother axle and suspension parts though, but as long as that's what you want, I guess that's what really matters.

Post up some photos here when you get it finished. :icon_thumby:

its not at all. I wanted an excuse to do a SAS anyway so i just blame the radius arms. It was only going to cost me about 800 bucks to finish the truck, and the new setup is costing 4200

hey man! ive seen that you have done alot more work than last i saw. glad ur going with coilovers. i was curious what brand of heims your gonna use. i like the ballistic joints but those QA1 heims are garbage. ive got a guy out in SD who sells good race parts and coilover parts and rebuilds. let me know if you need some stuff and ill give you his number. he has good prices and way more knowledge than thos fags at Offroad Warehouse.

Im using the Ballistic 3.0's. Big bastards! We are using tractor heims for the track bar. I dont use ORW for anything other than ordering parts. I dont even use them for that much either. Ballistic and a couple shops in El Cajon is where i do my biz

Well everyone, here is the beginning of the new axle swap.

Here is D sitting at Loftis Motorsports awaiting the swap.

Here is the D44 high pinion that is going in. Everything that is missing on the axle will be replaced with the parts from the TTB, (like brakes, spindle, hubs, etc.)

This is the rear. I still have the Skyjacker rear shocks, but they will be getting replaced with something else later.

Here are the used coilovers that I am using. They are King 2.5 prerunner coilovers. They have a 14" travel and are completely rebuildable so i think they were a sound investment. I am running 300/450 springs on the shocks for now.

All the previous setup is gone. Keith still has to cut the spacers i welded on, but he removed everything else that will be getting replaced.

ya, well those guys will order you the wrong parts. they suck ass, far from the experts they are percieved to be.

ya, i got the 3.0 Ballistic joints on my rig. if you need anything welded or machined, i can have my old shop hook u up. it might cost u a case of beer tho ya know.

fawking awesome! I will definitely be needing their help.

Well i went out to Loftis Motorsports this weekend to drop off the Yukon R&P and the poly bushings. While i was out there, me and the owner went over what his plans were with steering. Going to go with heims and misalignments. He is supposed to have one of the arms mocked up today and have the axle hanging by limit straps tomorrow evening or wednesday morning. Once he gets it that far, I will definitely take some pictures and post them up

cant wait to see ur rig when it done! sounds like urs will blow mine out of the water!
