Joined and no Truck

I just joined the forum. I do not have a truck yet but am getting a neighbour's one by the weekend for CAN$110. It is a 1986 2.0-litre manual. It seems to be in overall good shape. It has slow air leaks in the bald tires, a seized caliper, e-brake cable is toast, no rear bumper and fuel gauge pooched. I'll get new tires, caliper(s) pads, rotors and then figure-out what's up with the fuel gauge. I was suggested to find a forum like this to familiarise myself with the idiosyncrasies of the vehicle. I am typically a Honda guy but want to pick-up this truck as I have a (gifted to me) 1979 Ford F150 Custom that eats gas too much. The Ranger will be nicer in that department.

Got Truck?

I bought the neighbour's 1986 Ranger 2.0-litre on Saturday. I changed the brake calipers and pads. I still need to get the old catalytic convertor off to replace it and pass emissions before November. I need a rear bumper, wiper motor and brake booster. Someone is breaking their Ranger and advertised on Craigslist, so I'm going shopping. I also have no reading on the gas gauge. I read somewhere that this is common. I don't know whether it's the gauge, unit or wiring.
