Jeep submarine :)

i wonder if that jeep is a diesel...

what ever

I've dont that stock in my ranger!

Snorkels are for whimps!

I'm kidding. Thats pretty damn cool

I've always wondered what happens when you put an engine running that deep. One, wouldnt the shock of the cold water be too much for the engine if its already hot, and 2.) what happens with the radiator fan. Do you have to have a stronger fan for when the fan hits the water spinning as fast as it is. Its not a steel prop, its made out of plastic right? Spinning as fast as it does makes me think that would be to much stress on the blades and snap it.

That's crazy!!

well the fan issue would not be a problem. the fan only comes on when the engine is hot enough, and if the entire engine is under water, that ain't gonna happen. As for the water being to cold for the hot engine, I doubt it would be much of an issue, as the engine does not get that hot. 190 degrees vs 70 degree water is not going to stress it t hat much.

My guess is his major concerns is having all of his electrical connections sealed enough to keep the water out of them.

i saw this about 2 years ago, like 97ranger said it wont hurt the fan, or he might have an electric one. there probably isnt much of an electical system either since its carbed but just seal all the connections and its fine. Id be worried about all that crap in the water getting up in the dash but those CJs dont really have a dash either.

Water may not hurt the fan, but as he's 'diving' and the bottom half of the fan is in the water and the fan thermostat(clutch) is NOT in the water it may still be trying to drive the fan, right into the rad, as if it were a prop, plastic will flex. I have heard of guys making windows in their rads doing that.

He did a really good job of sealing it. I've been deep before but, not that deep. On hot days at the dunes I drive down to the water holes to cool my motor. My car doesn't have a snorkle though. I put a snorkle on my offroad truck so I could go deep but, I still need to relocate my computer.
