hi so i am thinking about switching my coils for jeep coils but im not sure.
its my d/d and trail rig. so i was just wondering if anyone that has done this can tell me how it preforms on and off road?
also since they are softer should i go for some thats longer then my current ones or some that are the same? i got a 4" supension lift in my ranger right now

thanks

You have an extended cab with 4.0L, you don't want Jeep coils. EB coils might be more to your liking though. Search around, it's been discussed.

You'll want dual shocks and more than likely a front sway bar to drive on the road. You will also have to address your steering. The stock setup doesn't seem to work very well even with the proper drop pitman arm.

i dont have a sway bar in the front, the previous owner took it out. does duel shocks help that much. i was never sure about them. i was gonna do the F250 shock tower swap and see how that works out. and for the steering what do you suggest? i was looking at superlifts Superunner steering.

thanks guys

I have F250 towers, but I am only running single shocks for now and a sway bar when I am on the road and she still drives like a boat.

thanks
im on a tight budget right now so ill probs just do the F250 coils for know and ill try getting a swaybar mounted up

I ended up putting double shocks on both ends to control the rides like a boat thing. I disconnect one rear pair when I go off road. It takes a while to get everything working properly for road use and even then you have to drive gently. I don't drive fast and I go easy on the bends so it works well for me but if you like to drive fast I would forget it. It also becomes an issue if anyone else is going to drive it

With dual shocks and the proper steering it should be fine on the road (a swaybar will help even further). However it will take a little bit to get it there... The Superlift steering is a good option, but NOT as it comes straight out of the box, you'll need to drop it's centerlink down a couple inches for it to work properly with your suspension.

This page explains what all is needed with your steering.

And agreed, Jeep coils at ~240PPI are a bit soft on a Supercab truck. Something closer to 300PPI is what you want (many EB coils are in this range, as are Deaver Superflex F-150 coils).

I'm thinking one of these might be best for this application, though there is somewhat of a size gap between them (20-21" free probably would be the ideal range for 4" lift RBV use). It might be best to just get the bigger ones and plan on cutting one winding off it if needed (shouldn't stiffen the spring by more than 5-7% or so).

I thought --> http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/i-...ngs-csf64.html <-- these would have been an easier install seeing as the lower section of the spring is already wound to the same diameter as the RBV springs are. The other three are the older style and would require one to manufacture a lower spring seat.

:annoyed: Great, now you have me scratching my head! :annoyed:

Link don't work in that last post.

Edit: I think you were trying to link the '80-'96 5.5 coils..

I haven't seen those before until now, I think that's a new item. Unfortunately it doesn't say what the spring rate is so you'd have to call them and find out.

Being they're specifically made for a TTB, I have to wonder if they're stiffer than the ones I linked.

Oh and for a lower spring seat, see this post:
