Was way too hot and humid to work in the garage, but I did anyway...

Pulled out the driver's seat, all the trim and the headliner. All so that I can get the rear window pulled out to finally replace the butyl seal.

Seal on the top was crusty and falling apart while the bottom part was still very much good

While the headliner was out I added some heat duct insulation to the roof

Hopefully that helps keep it a smidge cooler. Need to do under the carpet as well, but couldn't work up the effort.

Also replaced the driver's side b-pillar trim I broke a while ago. Got it all back together. Now just need to test the new seal and pray for no more leaks!

Need to do the back window on dad's Ranger.

What is the driver seat out of? Looks like it fits well. Need to find something I like to replace the seats in my '99.

Haven't done the insulation on my Ranger. I did do something similar on my Kia Forte. Can't say how much it affected the temperature, but it isn't as loud inside when it rains hard. I used different stuff and it's falling down (sunroof "door" drags when opening) and I'll probably redo with what you used when I can get enough other projects done to work on it. What you used will probably word better for both sound and heat.

Driver's seat is out of the Mazda version of the escape. Was an 05 base model. My only complaint is that it doesn't fold over forward enough to get behind it enough. Only reason I haven't installed the passenger side.

Makes sense. I've got the rear doors, so that wouldn't be an issue.

I REALLY dislike carrying two keys (one for ignition, one for doors). I thought it wouldn't bother me, it does. So, being the cheap ass that i am, i bought the cheapest pair of door lock cylinders i could find on Amazon:

Supposedly, they were re-keyable. Didn't come with any instructions, it's distinctly possible that i did it wrong as well.

The only way i could figure out to remove the cylinder was to pry off the metal ring from the front of the lock. Despite being as careful as i could be with a set of pliers and a flat head screwdriver, i managed to bend them up pretty good.

Once open, i dumped the wafers and tested my ignition key with all the possibilities from the available wafers. There were:
4 #3 wafers
1 #1 wafer
1 #2 wafer

I didn't have the effort or care to try and grind down the #3's where applicable and ended up with new door cylinder locks that have 3 wafers that match my ignition key:

Not the prettiest, but they are back together and I learned something. If i was smarter, i would have pulled the door cylinders (same brand, bought and installed a few months ago) to see if there were anymore wafers that could match up.

Depending on effort level, I could get some more practice in on the 'old' door locks when i remove them to see if those turn out any better (and also maybe harvest some more usable wafers)...

They look better the farther away you get

On the plus side, anyone that sees them will surely think my truck has already been pilfered before and will quickly lose interest.

You managed better than I did when I did the drivers door for my '97... that was the only way I could figure too, I ended up using 3 as well, same reason... only I had to do it twice since I didn't realize the key doesn't bottom out in the dang cylinder

The ones I did had a plate on top. Or bottom. IDK. See picture. Pop it off with a flat screwdriver and rearrange tumblers till you're happy. I even made some the perfect size for my worn keys.

That's interesting, I have the ones I just swapped out. I will definitely see if I can take that part off. Makes way more sense then smashing it like I did.

The tumbler from the '94 door I used on my '97 didn't have that plate, the one on my '90 I had to install because some jackwagon tried to break in with a screwdriver many moons ago did have that and it was super easy...

The chrome 'wrap' on my hub covers is in poor shape. I wanted to see if I could make them look better. Here's where it started at:

I was able to get most of the old chrome off, but I got lazy on a couple spots and I'm pretty sure it will come back to haunt me. Will post an update later!

Not sure what I think about it. I knew it wasn't going to be chrome, but I'm on the fence:

You can see the remaining chrome that I was too lazy to peel. It's not terrible, but I'm sure that's where it will fail first.

I guess overall it's better than it was. Might leave it for a day or so and see if it grows on me

Mine are in need of an upgrade - this looks like an inexpensive approach.

I covered my deer hooves with Dip you Car stuff cuz the aluminum surface was corroded in spots from wheel balancers (Lead on aluminum). I didn't do anything to the hubs. Now everything is looking like garbage.

What sprays did you use?

Took a closer look at the guide pin on one of the mustang calipers I'm cleaning up and noticed that it was pretty well mangled. Didn't realize how bad it was before but it's significant. This pin was frozen when I got them off the car. I was going to let it ride, but noticed that the seal edge was damaged enough that it in turn would likely damage the new seals

After all the time I've put into them at this point, might as well make sure I'm not putting a compromised component back in.

Here it is on the wheel. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. We'll see how it holds up, I applied some 'automotive' clear coat to hopefully help.
