well i took my dash apart to inspect the wiring and to relocate my tack.
turns out, i found alot more problems than i thought i would...
wires disconnected all over the place, wires cut, plugs unplugged, etc...
not too suprising, since the previous owner is a mechanical/technical idiot.

well i fixed most of the wiring and i relocated the tack. but i found one thing that i want to fix... and i want to know what it does and its importance.

when they wired the tack they unplugged an input that is located behind the top right hand corner of the glovebox. and cut one of the wires and connected the power wire from the tack to it. but they never re connected the cut wire, or even connected the plug back into the sensor.

what is the sensor for? is it important? i want to reconnect the wire and plug it back in and wire the tack CORRECTLY, so it works when i turn on my lights...

i also found multiple cut wired all around. i will get pics soon... ive looked around for the info but no luck.

thanks guys

hey guys, im still searching with no luck. im about to take it out and find a ride up to the ford house and see if they can be of any help. never have been of any before though.

if you have any idea of what it may be or be for, advice would be of great help. transmission is going in this coming weekend (HOPEFULLY) and id like to have the dash together and everything working so after the tranny swap im done for awhile.

thanks to all

Might try and find a wiring diagram and locate the wires you are talking about on it, Probably wouldn't be too hard if you can tell the colors of the wires and where at least one end goes to.

There are two modules above the glovebox on a Gen1

One is the "infered mileage sensor"

It is essentially a timer that tells you when it's time to service your emissions equipment.

Personally mine is still there, though there is no circuit card inside it
The "shell" of the module keeps the dangling wire from interfering with
closing the glovebox door.

The other Module is the key-in/seatbelt/headlights-on chime

thanks AllanD. its the milage sensor one, im just gonna fix it and see how it goes. ford looked at it and "couldnt" find out what it was. but there just lazy.

tranny is comming on friday (still... hopefully) so i decided to paint the dash and build a bracket today to lift my CB .5in off of the dash for cooling reasons (its POWERFULL and in the texas heat, it cooks.) When i get my HAM im gonna build a roof mount to carry the two radios.

thanks to all
