Is this stuff worth saving?

This is mostly a hypothetical question I was thinking about as I'm disassembling a cab to get it ready to replace the cab on my truck. I know stuff is getting harder and harder to find for the first gen trucks and I save what I can. This stuff has value to me because it's my hobby, and I enjoy them, but I'm unsure if they carry much value beyond that.

What're your thoughts?

Id keep as much as I could.

Absolutely, save them. You'll spend weeks hunting the part later and regret not grabbing it now.

I started doing that with the Lincoln town car parts, the next thing I know I had the Missing Linc!

I’m like you, I enjoy doing more than I like the driving or owning. But it’s whatever way you want to surf!

I’d like to clear out some of the stuff that I have and likely will never use like a box of stock radios, but I’d like to accumulate some other parts like throttle cables. I think as these trucks age, having a private stockpile of stuff no longer available would be wise

Just me second guessing 22 ish years of parts hoarding, I suppose I'll carry on, haha.

Not wise.

Required.

I just had to make my own throttle cable for my truck because new ones are not available. I used a newer EFI F-150 cable as a starting point but eventually they will dry up too. What good is a truck without a throttle cable?

Are you saying I should throw away the box of Fiat X1/9 parts I had from a car I owned 20 years ago, or the Mercedes parts from several I owned over 50 years, but last owned 10 years ago?

I have Mercedes parts on my Ranger... :dntknw:

As for getting rid of the stuff... if you know for sure that you will never get a car that uses those parts again, what is the point of keeping them? especially if you are short on storage space. sell them or let them go to someone that can use them.

And on that note, anyone need 2009-2011 Buick Lucerne parts?

No, not necessarily. I’m just being realistic, I will likely never put a factory radio back in any of my trucks. If I’m never going to use it, why hold on to it? That takes up valuable space at some point…

The supply isn’t that bad around here yet but I never really planned for the supply drying up and I can see them thinning out and starting to realize there’s going to be a real problem in a near future and I’m not properly prepared…
