Is this craigslist ad fake?

If you see a near mint vehicle on craigslist for few thousand dollars cheaper than what it should be then stay away. Here are some other pointers to watch for. Looks for multiple pictures of the same pictures. Pictures that looks like someone took a picture of a vehicle on a computer (you can easily see the lines from the screen in the picture). Description not matching. odd phone numbers. Perfect grammar used in post. We all know what vehicles in our areas are worth so if it seems too good to be true then it probably is. I see these ads all the time. Nice trucks that are worth 6-8k and they are posted for 800-900 bucks with very limited info.

RBV's are obscure enough that it doesn't always apply.

Someone might only want $500 for grandpa's old truck just to get rid of it.

This is great info. Chances are, the vehicle worth $6,000 - $8,000 but listed for $800 to $900 has something wrong with it (and it's probably serious).

It definitely has something wrong with it...the person/person's who posted it don't actually have the vehicle LOL. Or someone's ex is so pissed off they're giving the vehicle away, or the engine and/or tranny is blown which may be the latter given its an automatic (A4LD) very well could be a blown tranny...picked up my 88 B2 for $800 with a somewhat working A4LD, I was able to drive it home 30 miles but no overdrive at all and was $2400 to have rebuilt.

However, with today's cell phone cameras those pictures could be 1000x better, looks like they're terrible copies of photo copies that have been photo copied a few thousand times.

I'd contact the "seller" and tell them you want to come test drive it and have a mechanic take a look at it and see if/what they say...you'll either get no response, or you'll get the typical oh I am out of the country or I'm selling it for a friend that is out of the country, its in storage, won't be able to do show it, etc.

Here in Arizona, many of those fake ads say "Located in ______," middle of the desert, while the photos show the vehicle in tall green grass, in heartland America suburbia.

They must get people, or they wouldn't keep doing it.
