Doesn't really look like the same kind of a theme. The truck is like minty perfect, engine bay isn't so much.
And it wouldn't have had a 2.3 from the factory so the trans would have to be swapped too. Usually people don't go from a 2.9 to a 2.3T especially in a Supercab 4x4.
It is a somewhat later engine bay with the plastic brake fluid reservoir though (I think '86-'88)
The ad I was looking at said 88. And it looks like in the corner of the engine pic it may be a blue fender.
Plus, they probably aren't expecting most people to pick through this with the level of detailed knowledge the lot of us have.
I know.
I do think the engine bay pic is probably from a different truck though.
Cowl covers could be black which is a second gen thing.
Could be bad lighting or spray paint though.
The cowl panel is slotted, the 2nd gens had small holes, not the big slots. I'd like to swap my cowls out for newer ones to keep the leaves out.
I think that engine bay has been painted.
Also, I'm not convinced that is a 4-cyl. The upper rad hose is coming from the wrong spot. It is the right shape for a 2.9.4-cly comes out of the passenger side at a 45* to the block and goes forward to the rad. 2.9 comes up slightly to the driver's side and crosses over.
Good catch on the slots.
Hard to say on the hose with the air pipe blocking most of the base. It has the HD two row radiator so the upper hose has to go to the left rather than the right like a normal 4cyl. I think different outlets are available too.
I think figuring out the engine is the most problematic part. That is not a 2.9 or 4.0 intake but the upper rad hose seems to come from the correct spot for a 2.9.
The coils scream dual plug 2.3, but the upper hose is coming from the wrong spot.
And alternator location supports 2.3.
I can't even find the alternator, but that isn't a coil pack off by the dipstick, it is a distributor. So it must be a Lima engine, because in-lines are the only ones that ever had a distributor over there.
