Is there an adjustment on a transmission modulator

Hi ranger folks. I have a 93 ranger splash 3.0 v6 automatic transmission with 4x4. I have heard you can adjust the shift timing with a screw in or near the trans modulator. In first it shifts at 2500 rpm, second at 4500 rpm and third at 3000 or less. It is very sluggish in fourth. I seldom take the freeway because of this. Is the adjustment in the threaded screw in the center of the modulator? Thx jc
