The gas gauge on our 91 Explorer hasn't worked for over a year now and the wife wants it fixed. I ground out the yellow wire and the gauge did not peg so I assume it is the gauge or a wiring problem. Is there a way to check the gauge on the bench if I pull it from the cluster?

It may be the anti-slosh module too. Here's the wiring diagram for it.

find the wire going to the fuel guage with the key on, a pulsing voltage to it usually about 8 volts pulsing and touch it to ground if the guage goes to full the guage is working the sender controls the ground goin to the guage.

I went to the wrecking yard and got a slosh module from another rig. I installed it and the fuel gauge is working again:icon_cheers: I made sure to grab one from a rig that did not have the needle pegged on empty.

thanks for the help guys

Glad you got it fixed. Thanks for the update.
