I have a 94 Ranger 2wd that see's 2500-4000 lbs of loads several times per month. Is there any other tranny from a 2.3L that will work for my truck? Im wondering if the SVO stang or Turbo Coupe T-Bird trannys are any stronger, or if they would even work in the same mounting positions as on my Ranger.

I don't think anybody ever intended the 2.3 to haul that much weight.

For towing an auto is actually stronger because the gears are in constant mesh and have a larger contact surface. An A4LD properly built and cooled will be stronger.

Your transmission is no weaker than the units put behind other engines in the RBV lineup. I wouldn't use an A4LD unless I had no other choice. Bad personal experience.

What would take a little load off the clutch and transmission is a lower axle ratio. I'd do 4.10's in a heartbeat when towing in your situation.

already have a 8.8 in the truck with 4.10LS
gears. Running Lt 235/75/15s. Well picked up another tranny in great shape for $80. Of course I had to remove it ,but even removed the top cover to inspect all the gears & they are all in great shape.
