I was thinking about just taking off my existing stock tail pipe and muffler and putting a thrush welded muffler on in place of the stock muffler with no tail pipe after it. Is that bad? I know this is a hard question to answer because some of it is personal preference, but will anything obviously bad happen? And does anybody have this setup?

i did it on mine with a cherry bomb turbo lol.. its not like urs but if the end of the muffler ends just at where the cab and bed meet then i would make it come out the side its not that hard to do and just make a tip for it or buy one i just used flex pipe lol nothing special but it works or u can just get a shop to bend pipe then weld it in or clamp it in. hope this helps lol

Ive got an 89 Ranger 4x4 with a 96 2.3, headers goin to 2 1/2" pipe, no cat, to a 40 series Flowmaster, then about a 30degree turn down. It ends just behind the cab. Needless to say its a little loud :D Ive ran this setup for years with no problems. Though I have been told Ive shot flames out past my rear end before :icon_hornsup: while taching out at 6grand while trying to get up some big ass rocks. I know theres not a whole lot of back pressure, but I dont have much intake resistance either with a modified air box and K&N air filter. Pretty well free flowing in and out. Keep in mind too alot of drag racing guys run without anything behind their mufflers also and they are pushing alot more power and pressuer through big block V-8's than our stock Rangers will ever think about. Personally I say try it and see what you think. It will have an effect on the sound so keep that in mind. Hope this helped.
