The fun begins where the pavement ends
As anybody that has read my thread knows. My Ranger has had a fairly weird life. It has treated me well and dome a lot of fun stuff for me but it also has many problems I have come across. If you have read my thread you know, if not, read up and pos up your opinion here.

So my question for you guys is do I clean up my Ranger, sell it off and cut my losses? Or do I buck up, drop some serious bills and fix it up into the machine it wants to be? Any the machine I want to have, it has started to grow on me:D

What's wrong with it now? I just went and bought a gasket set, a water pump, t-stat, and some spark plugs for my new ranger. Hopefully i'll get quite a bit done tomorrow.

I say you should keep it and fix it. Shit happens and things break. That's the deal with having a used vehicle.

I would say fix it.
one nice thing about rangers there cheap to fix for the most part compared to other trucks

Me and my wife made the decision (before it was repoed) that we loved our expedition and spending 3-6000 to put a new motor in it was a way better and more affordable option than buying a new vehicle. Any vehicle will last forever if you give it a new heart every now and then. I think that your ranger is worth keeping, any ranger is. Especially if you do your own work. The only one reason I see why anyone should get rid of there vehicle, is if they are tired of it and dont want it anymore, in which case it doesnt matter how reliable. If you dont enjoy it, dont keep it.

But if you love your truck, remember its mechanical. It can all be fixed cheaper than the price of a new car.

All good points. I just noticed today I had a broken leaf spring but since I work at the Ford dealership they give me an alright price on stuff so I am at the right place to fix it. It just has a bunch of little niggles to it that start to pile up but I mean I do most of my own work so I think I will just keep it. It has done quite a bit for me. It was just something I was rattling around in my head. More-or-less blowing smoke. I'm going to price out leaf springs and keep ticking away. And I do enjoy it, I am sure once I sell it I will be jammed into some penalty box car I despise and still be out money. Thanks crew, I'm going to throw a little time an money at Spinny and hope for the best:D. I'm sure it'll treat me nice back.

So I ordered a set of leaf springs from a welding shop in town. They are heavier duty than the standard ones. One more leaf but cheaper! They have less arc angle but won't sag as much under the truck's weight and give me an extra 150 lbs payload. That isn't to much stiffer so flex and rider hopefully won't be affected too much. I still have to put on my Ranchos and now I am looking at a set of Duff Traction bars to seriously build the back end. Check in to my thread to follow this up. The springs should be in and done on Tuesday.

Why didn't you order them from a dealer if you work for one?

Cheaper:icon_thumby: Plus the parts guy there told me to try the welding shop as they are also a spring shop. I probably should said that. If I was to get the exact replacement springs it would've been a better deal for me to get them from the dealership. But the heavy duty springs were cheaper than the standard springs for some reason. So I went with those.
