working on rear main seal in my '94 4.0 There seems to be a thin metal flange that is bent over and covering maybe half of the seal closest to the crank. It is definitely not part of the seal, is this a sleeve? if so I'm gonna have to order a seal thats made for a sleeve right? Also I'm gonna have to bend the crap outta that thing to get the seal out from under it unless someone here knows a better way?
Thanks

That is not a sleeve. I sleeved mine in my rebuild. That is your seal.

Just thought id update, it's definitely a sleeve and a major PITA to get out.

I think that's a speedi-sleeve. Basically over a long time the seal can wear a groove into the crank. So a cheap alternative is to buy a speedi-sleeve and it consists of a sleeve that wraps around the crank held on usually with red loctite and a new seal. I've used these with great success on all of my leaky Fords.

Anybody know how to install one of these sleeves? already destroyed one today its a really tight fit. Im about to try and build a pusher of sorts using the flywheel bolts.
