Is It Possible?

He clearly said 227 MILES PER HOUR and 7.3 PowerStroke!

Frankly, unless it was a tube frame chassis, a stock Ranger frame might self-destruct at around 150 MPH.

My Ranger won't even go over 93mph, but I guess that doesn't mean others can't.

Isn't there a guy on TRS that has a 7.3 in a Ranger? I thought I remembered seeing one not too long ago.

227 mph is highly unlikely. A newer Mustang would probably require somewhere in the neighborhood of 650 hp to do 200 mph. A Ranger, with it's brick aerodynamics, would therefore require 10,000 +/- hp to hit 227 mph. :icon_rofl:

Any mass produced vehicle would start to lose control at 180mph.

Hate to break it to you, but the 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback (180hp with a high performance transmission and rear axle). was capable of splitting 175 on a good day with excellent control, and thats on a low side, on a high side, with good traction, you can get around 190 without losing control ATTEMPTING to turn. Anything over 210mph in a truck is not possible stock though =P. They are not built speed, but utility.

And as for the 7-o, I raise the flag, you can fit it in the bay without major surgery..... ....if you use the bed.

yeah theres a TRS member with a power stroke engine on his truck. i think its an STX Ranger

Thank you for confirming that my BS meter was correctly calibrated. (Great! another sig for you guys!)

Where did you ever heard this? Suppose you could if you dropped 800 lbs, added a aero package & suspension and then added 450+hp. The '66's got scary to drive at 100 mph with the front end wanting to lift.
Dave

um, never heard of a 68 mustang doing 190mph? it made my head hurt reading the post. there was a 1966 mustang, twin turbo with somewhere in the realm of 1000hp that did 211 mph.... that was no where near stock, and it was named "old muscle".... and no, a 2.3t will not do 227mph, even if it were to weigh nothing more than the motor! lol

He's fullacrap.

I had my modified Mustang SVO to 152mph with the 2.3L Turbo and it is a LOT more aerodynamic than a Ranger. Now way a ranger could pull it off.
