Is it just me or is my clutch engaging later

when i first got the truck the clutch engaged within the last 1-2 inches , now just acouple nights ago when i got off work it seems like it is engaging later, towards the very end of the clutch being released, i thought it was my clutch going out, i asked my auto shop teacher about it he told me to put it in 2nd or 3rd while going up a hill and flooring it, well i did that it didnt slip so im thinking if there is any other reason why my clutch is doing this maybe from abuse ? :3gears: but i would like to get it resolved before i lose access to my school auto shop
 
Have you been abusing it? Be careful, you could go blind...but the disc does get thinner as it wears, might not be "going out" but getting close, I think it's about a six hour job to R&R the trans, unless you changed it, or you know it was replaced before you got it, you'll never know until you look. Had a trans problem with my B2, clutch never slipped, but when I pulled the trans, the disc was right at the rivets, another few thousand miles and it would have started giong..when you do swap it out, be sure to change the slave cylinder...
 
Oh boy.

Clutch release height on a HYDRAULIC clutch tells you about as much about clutch wear as the bumps on your head.

If it changes, the only real possibilities are hydraulic leaks and imagination.
 
The only way to make a difference would be to change the master cylinder relationship to the rod mount location on the pedal. Such as your firewall being pushed in (or changing the rod length) –I just modified my firewall and engagement location changed drastically)
A remote possibility being that you had air in your system all along and for some reason it finally bled out? Haha could it happen?

i guess most anything is Possible
 
When my clutch was new it engaged right off the floor. Now it engages about 3" from fully released. When starting from a stop up a hill it seems like it doesn't clamp until the pedal is almost fully released. It's been this way for at least 10K and I just towed with it this weekend.

Chances are it is fine and perfectly normal.

thanks, makes me feel better, the clutch has always engaged at the very last moment, so it just made it extra fun to learn with :3gears:
