Is 02 3.0L 4x4 compatible with 99 3.0L 4x4 tranny

I have a 99 3.0L Ranger 4x4 that transmission has gone out in and am looking for one to put back in it unfortunately finding a 4x4 transmission that bolts up to a 3.0L must be rare. I'm assuming it is because I have been looking for a month or so. I did find an automatic transmission out of a 02 3.0L Ranger 4x4 and was wondering if it would work. Don't think it will but I was interested in knowing the difference.

1999 ranger 3.0l should have the 4R44E(4 speed) trans, 1995-2000 4-Cylinder & 3.0L Rangers

2002 Ranger 3.0l should have the 5R44E(5 speed) trans, 2001-2009 w/2.3L & 3.0L Rangers

They will swap mechanically, the issue will be the electronic control as both are controlled by the computer and your computer is setup for the 4-speed
