Evening everyone

I've been running my 2.3 swap for about a year and a half now and it runs reliably but there are still a few kinks that need to be worked out. I am going to use this one thread for all the little bugs to keep it simpler.

The truck is an 88 Ranger Ext Cab with the 2.3 FI and the Mazda 5spd
It now has an 89 2.3 FI with the 8 plug and dual coil packs

The first little gremlin is the tachometer.
I have never been able to get it working.
Tonight I found some new information and I believe I know the wire I need coming of off the DIS but I cannot find the wire that goes to the tach in the 88 dash.

As I understand, the signal wire I need on the DIS is on the bottom, and is the furthest to the drivers side if you are standing at the front bumper looking at the module.

Additionally, according to my Haynes Manual, on the 88 2.3, the signal wire is dark green and yellow (DG/Y) all the way to the gauge.

I found a dark green and yellow wire tonight near the firewall and connected it to the previously mentioned wire on the DIS and it did nothing.

The only other piece of information that I have is that a resistor might be required for the 88 tach to work with the 89 motor.

Any ideas, suggestions, or threads for me to look like for this one?

The first picture is what I am going off for the signal wire from the DIS module.

And the second is a picture of the signal wire in the 88. The wire I need is the green one. Mine is no longer arranged so nicely.

One final thought that might negate all of this typing I have done.
Would it be easier/simpler to pull the cluster out and just find the wire by looking at the back of the tach and just tugging on it to find it in the engine bay?

Thanks a bunch everyone and sorry for the novel.

The tach wiring gets wierd. I got the tach in my 87 working with a 4.0 although I think it's pretty inaccurate above 1800 on the gauge.

I don't remember exactly which wire it was, but I know the color changed once it got in the dash. For some reason tan and yellow is sticking in my head.
