I have a 1994 ranger with the 4.0 in it. I started having a problem a few months ago when my voltage gauge started going crazy. Anything I turned on made the voltage go down. It went away, then a few weeks later I went to start the truck and it was dead as a doornail.
I tried to jump it off and it wouldn't work, decided the alternator went out, had it checked and sure enough it had crapped out. After replacing that it ran fine for awhile then it started getting hard to start in the morning, kind of slow. But it would knock my radio out like, right before it would stat all power would shut off. After running down the road a bit I could turn it off and on with no problems.
So today I went through and checked grounds, looked around for anything out of the ordinary and noticed a hose that goes to the evap had dry rotted and broke off, I put it back on best I could for the time being.
I went and checked the codes KOEO, and I got codes 513, 539, and 536. One is for the brake booster, I think its messed up because of the LEDs I put in the tail lights. The other says the ac was running and it was unplugged, and last but not least Internal voltage failure PCM.
Now I dont know what the heck is going on but could the brake booster code be causing the internal voltage failure since its not reading right. If not is there any other way to test the PCM to make sure it is good/bad?
I know its along post and thanks to those who will read it and hopefully know where to point me.
Thanks
Carey
