I have no idea what's causing it.

I've replaced speed sensor, connector, and wires. Checked/tested tps in all ways possible.

All I know is something is causing the pcm to intermittently break ground to the torque converter solenoid making it lock and unlock in first and sec gear.

My first guess would be a bad/loose ground someplace between the pcm and the engine/trans......

Computers run on such low voltages that corrosion or loose grounds will do weird and wonderful things.

Ok now that you have said that. Thx btw. There is an orange wire that used to be bolted to the fill tube and the back of the cylinder head. I moved it due to the valve cover gaskets always leaked. And the wire was soaked in oil. Maybe ill try moving it back closer to the trans. Would you happen to know what that wire is.

Sorry, I don't know much about your BII, just some things about electronics. Computers either work or don't work. Intermittent function is almost always power problems or bad grounds. Saying that is sometimes does and then sometimes does not indicates to me that the sensor input to lock the converter is not always getting to the computer so it does not apply the ground or it applies the ground but it is not always getting to the converter.

Ok so what you are saying is if a ground could be bad it will either make the connection or it won't.

Ground is being lost in first and sec gears. Only for a short time.

What I have done is fixed or think I have. All the factory splices. They didn't seal them with a good protection method. So the wires got corroded. There's a big splice for ground involving tps, map, and other sensors. They can't be separated or the truck won't start. Although they look good, I'm using heat shrink butt connectors. For the ground and power wires.

I'm confused about those ground. How the Hell can the pcm differentiate what sensor is what if they are all tired together.
