2.3L ('83-'97) Intermittent sputtering, low power- solved


So I just posted a long thread-
Covering just this mistake!
And I have been chasing it for 45 days or so. Completely self generated problem! I can’t believe how well the truck runs regardless. I thought it should have been more obvious.

It didn’t help me (your thread) in time ……but…… it made me feel less lonely in the “dual coil messed up firing order” club!
 
I have same symptoms but also code “running rich at part throttle” intermittently (on every few minutes once warmed up). Don’t remember my reasoning, but I decided the ICM was good and ECU was bad (those are only things left that can be bad). I think I’ll revisit that decision.
