basically the title says it.

my sub has a blue light that is on when the amp has power, and every once and a while it just turns off. it shouldn't be overheading, it's not touching the seat. it's been in use less than a year.

the biggest thing i was thinking of is a bad ground. i need to find some time to check the ground out, but how would i know if it's a bad ground or not? why would it work sometimes and not other times?

also, it happens when i'm turning, when i hit bumps, and even when i'm just driving on a perfectly flat interstate... so in summary, it doesn't have any physical reoccurances such as whenever i hit a bump or when i brake... it happens completely randomly.

Check that it's not grounding out somewhere it's not supposed to. Insulation may be worn through on the wire, or maybe the amp itself is touching something.

the wiring is brand new also, and it's ran through a gromet so it shouldn't be worn there either... i mean i'll give it a look but i would doubt it.

it's a possibility something is touching the amp, i'll have to clean up the truck a bit and make sure nothing is interfering.

If it's under the seat or something maybe it's grounding out one of the terminals, that's kinda what I was getting at. My speakers cut out a few times after I changed out the rears, so I decided to check them. Turns out I had mounted them 180* off from how I should have, and since the holes where oblong, they would touch the body of the truck.

Just something dumb I overlooked during install.

it's behind my seat on the little shelf that is present in the gen 1's (maybe more gens, but gen 1 for sure)

and it's got mdf under it, behind it, to the left and right, and above. :icon_confused:

Yeah I figured that, I meant the amp.

i was talking about the amp. i've got an mdf box that spans the whole back shelf, width wise and height wise. and a portion of it is sealed off for the sub's chamber and the other part is just a rack basically for my amp
