the last two mornings I have started the truck and had no sound from speakers, when I leave to get lunch they work fine. I checked the two fuses (the two that listed radio in my book #20 & #29) on side panel of dash and they are good. Any ideas of what could be wrong?

Wait, is the radio coming on with no sound or does the radio not power on?

Is it all speakers or just one?

If it is a single door speaker turn the radio on, open the door, and wiggle the harness. If you get the speaker coming and going then replace or repair the door harness as needed.

If it is a single speaker not in the door, a door speaker not effected by the wiggle test, or all speakers gain access to the effected speaker, turn radio on, with no sound coming out of it check for AC voltage at the speaker plug. If you have anything above .3V AC replace the speaker, anything less replace the radio. If you get exactly .3V AC turn the volume up and test it again.

it's all the speakers that don't work. When I turn on the truck the speakers give a second burst of sound, sounds like the noise you get from the speakers just after you would turn off a stereo. If that makes sense?

Yes, that does make sense. It's a pop. That's the amplifier kicking on. Do you have the volume all of the way up when you turn it on? Usually newer stuff doesn't have an audible pop.

This happened to me, first one speaker fading in and out every now and then. Then one day they all died. The headunit went even though it still looked like it worked. Got a used headunit at a pawnshop for $50 and its way better. Not sure if thats your problem but thats what happened in my case.
