i need to know if the engine is interference or freewheeling in regards to the timing chain

To be honest I have no idea.

Not that I know why it matters as I have never seen,
nor have I heard a credible report of a timing chain breaking on a 2.9.

The 2.9 timing chain isn't a sloppy POS like a Chevy.
The 2.9 Timing set is all steel, it's a "roller chain"
AND it has a spring loaded tensioner to keep oit from flopping around.

I ran my original 2.9 engine to 262,000 miles before I replaced the engine.
It still had it's original timing chain in it.

So now I'm compelled to ask... why are you worried about it?
