Hello everyone I'm a newbie to this site. I bought my dad's old 92 Ranger XLT 4x4 2.9l off of him about a year ago and have been driving it ever since. On the road and in the pits or on the trails where ever she can get me. But I had a buddy that had a 88 Ranger 2wd with a 302 in her, after I saw that I wanted it. So my question is will a 302 fit in my truck. I will be taking the engine out of a 1996 F-150. Will I have to use the Transfer Case, Tranny, Rear End out of the F-150 for it to work. Sorry for the hassle but help will be good

Thanks
Martin

you should have a d35....its possible a 8.8. basically you would be best to get an explorer 8.8 with the match ratio to your d35.

the f150 engine trans and t case can be used which greatly simplifies things on one hand. but with some compromise to fit due to the hellacios size of the tcase on the other.

that is why i prefer the jeep 208 followed by the earlier late 70's to mid 80's ford 208 trimmed a bit.

but if your not building up the 302 its most cost effective to try and find a low mile 351 donor for a drop in as is 4x4 swap.
