are there any intake mods that do not cost anything or cost very little for the intake on my 1991 4.0? trying to get it to breath a little better without forking out a bunch of cash.. thanks for the help

yea take off ur stock breather and use pretty much anything that isnt k&n and it will breathe a bit better but not much. atleast i think im correct maybe not tho

Better yet, dig around and check out how the plumbing goes. Take off the vacuum lines to the damper that directs air from the manifold, and cap them at the nipple on the intake manifold and the two nipples on the airbox lid. Remove the lower part of the airbox, and remove all the piping brings air into the airbox. Now you can cut holes in the airbox. I believe I cut out part of the front and side, it was years since I did one of these. Don't go too crazy, though. It'll sound deeper, and have a little better power, but not much difference.

But then you have a hot air intake :banghead: just diy a drop in filter and remove the muffler if there is any. Done deal. Or modify our with after market tubing like the spectre stuff and match it up to fit to the stock box so you have smoother flow. But too much work for maybe 1 to 2 HP if that. Mostly just changes sound, search this forum for cai, aftermarket intake, etc so many threads on this.

Doesn't matter, really. if anything it makes the intake air teps go down because the dampers don't work right when they are 20 years old. If you actually saw how small and restrictive the intake is, you'd agree. It makes a noticeable difference by the butt dyno - but not significant. I've tried it on both a 2.9 and a 4.0. Even on my Civic if I were to go aftermarket I wouldn't get a cold air setup - I'd get a short ram. Less prone to water, and a filter clogged with snow can slow you right down, lol.

Take a 3/4" drill bit and punch 10 holes in the intake, all about 1.5" apart.

That, or install a search function in your truck.

Crap - can't give you rep man.

S'all good. I'm just being a dick to people who don't search today because it's hot out and I have no one to help me bleed my brakes.

You're too far away but I can hear it now: down, stop, up, down, stop, up etc. I had my kids bleeding mine when they were ~10.

Funny thing about this post is that I was out bleeding brakes while you were posting that.

Wife came home and got drafted as soon as she stepped in the door.

It went more like pump, stop, ok, pump, up, leave it up, ok put it down, no do it slower, no not that slow, ok it doesn't look like river water anymore, we are done.

Nice job Wife! Mine helps out when I need an extra hand too.

Too bad you can't train your dogs to pump the brakes.
