Hi, new to the forum - great info here! I have '85 Ranger 2.8 engine to swap into a different vehicle (actually came from '86 Aerostar but I'm told it's the same engine). Converting to Duraspark and basic Motorcraft 2150 carb. Is there any way to use the existing intake manifold or do I need to find one from late '70's engine in order to make the 2150 fit?

You can use your existing intake manifold, it should bolt right on.

Thanks for the info. What about the existing adapter plate between the carb and manifold that has the EGR and a bunch of ports. Should I just disconnect all that stuff and block off the connections or can I take off that adapter plate and use something else? For this project I can get rid of all emissions equipment. Thanks.

I would leave the plate on.
If for off road use the EGR can be removed, and blocked off, you should need some of the ports for vacuum and PCV, put vacuum caps on what you don't need.
PCV system keeps oil cleaner by pulling out blow-by and water vapor.

EGR helps prevent pinging when under load as spark timing advances for best power.
So removing it can actually reduce your power if you have to retard timing to reduce pinging under load.
So keep that in mind when capping off the EGR connections, you may want to add it back if you run into the ping monster :)

Thanks, I'll get one when I get the carburetor.
