Insulation

Can anyone recommend an aftermarket insulation product? My goal is to improve interior heating during the winter. I've found countless numbers on the net, but they advertise how efficient they are at keeping heat out. It must be water tight, also.

uh, you won't be finding "water tight" insulation....

the stick on kind that has the silver foil will be sufficient for your purposes... this isn't a house where there are rated insulations... the heat will be reflected off of the foil... and some of these insulations have sound deadener properties... you can replace your vapor barrier behind your door panels... you can put it on the door skin.... you can put it on the floor, firewall, behind the seats and on the roof.

once all that's done, you truck'll be quiter and probably warmer/cooler.

There was a post on another forum from a guy with a Corvette and he wanted to reduce tire noise...so he did his entire cab with the foil stuff...said it was much quieter...

The foil insulation is pretty water resistant too, but to eliminate water in the cab you need to seal all the places that it leaks in first...and use something like those Pant-saver mats that catch the water from melting snow...and, of course, dump them once in a while...

My floor mats get so heavy from water that they weigh close to 100 lbs...couldn't believe how much they absorbed...

I'm not vince with sham wow.... I didn notice they editied the "you'll love my nuts" line from the dicer.... too bad, it was funny, and a lot of people I know at work bought it because of that....



that foil insulation has many types... some don't have a lot of insulation and would be used int places you don't want it to take up a lot of room while others have a good meaty portion of insulation... the thicker stuff is good for the firewall and floor with the good possibility for the headliner and the inside of the door on the door skin (not the vapor barrier)... I almost forgot behind the seats. That should about make your truck sound like a church... if you want more then you can use the thinner stuff everywhere you won't see it.... your A and B pillars and behind the dash... you name it... hell you can use it as your new vapor barrier too... just save your old one so you can cut the holes into the foil.
