My friend has a posi unit for sale for $100. I was thinking of getting it for my truck for alittle offroad and the winter. How hard is one to install or would it be one of those thinks i should just bring to the shop for. If i was going to do the shop route how much you guys think it would run.

would it be worth while to just get for using for alittle offroad.

Thanks much.

Posi as in LS? Most likely the backlash will have to be reset, you'll need a dial indicator and a set of carrier shims, and a torque wrench and most people say use new ring gear bolts as well, personally when I put an open carrier in my 7.5 I re-used the ring gear bolts (I didn't know any better, without lock-tite to boot) and had my cover off after over a year and everything looked great.

is this going in your ranger if so the only way a limited slip will go in a ranger if you have an explorer 8.8 rear axle swap and the 150 is a 8.8(they had the sterling in them 2)

If it is out of a F-150, it will NOT work as the Ranger 8.8 is a 28 spline and the F-150 8.8 is a 31 spline axle.

damnit. thanks guys

hmm maybe a locker then.......

some day
