Well my harmonic balancer has quit and I am going to replace it this weekend, I have just about everything I need except for the special installer tool to put the new one on. A few guys I have talked to said that it can be very lightly tapped into place enough for the bolt to be installed and pull it the rest of the way on, but I have been reading that this can damage the thrust bearings. Has anyone done this before, or have any other suggestions for installing it?

O'Reilly's or Auto zone may have a Harmonic Balancer removal/installer tool rental. I know both of them have the puller/installer kit for the power steering pulley.

Yeah I rented one of those and the installer is way to big to fit through the 12mm hole in the new balancer.

I've never used any "special tool" to install a 2.0 or 4.0 crank pulley...

But I'd be totally lost without the purpose made Rotunda/OTC puller to pull the thing off....

Yeah im borrowing the puller from work, and talking to a few guys at the shop they said as long as you dont wail on it it will be fine.
