you either do not have the convertor all the way into the trans pump or you do not have the Torque convertor studs lined up wiht the holes in the flexplate. most likely the holes in the flexplate. They can be a real whore. I usually turn the flexplate so a hole in where the starter is that way you can feel the torque convertor stud as it slides in towards the flexplate.
well if im readying this right i think the trans pump isnt lineing up because i didnt take the converter off. so should i just pull it all out and then take the converter off.
Take the converter out anyway. You want to make sure it is seated correctly or you will kill the pump as soon as you fire the thing up. You might want to replace seal too. When you stick the converter in rotate it and push in, it will drop in once. Keep rotating and pushing and it will drop in again. Then put the trans up. I like to have a stud hold located around where the starter is so I can easily see and line up the studs. Also, don't use the bellbolts to pull the trans on. If something binds you will crack the bell.
