inspection pipe

I heard from a friend that for older cars with bolt on cats they use to make inspection pipes, so you could remove the cats and put them back when its time for smogging. Anyone know where I could find one.

Removal of the catalytic converter on any vehicle so originally equipped is illegal, therefore such a pipe used for said purpose would also be illegal.

the very phrase "test pipe" was a thinkly veiled euphamism

Not that it matters anymore they are illegal to make commercially, much less sell or use
