power windows at all 4 switches do not work. interior lights do not come on by doors opening or by light switch on dash. also the front and rear wipers do not work unless you pull out on the key. and all fuses seam to be fine.

body module that controls most of the creature comforts

The GEM is a sort to computer module that applies grounds when you request service from those switches that are not working. Sort of like in a 747, when you push the over head reading light button to turn on the light you are not turning on the light, you are asking a computer to turn on that light. Cheaper and lighter than running the power down to each seat switch and back up to the light.

Each GEM is programmed for the vehicle it is installed in (depending on accessories). Same basic module, different firmware. It can turn into a real goat rope to replace it. If you can find one with the exact same part number, it may work without reprogramming by a dealer. But, .........

Try this, disconnect the battery ground and let it sit for about 30 minutes and see if that resets the GEM to it original status. Probably won't fix it but worth a shot.

Where is that? What do I call it at the autovpart store?

It's in the dash, near the radio. You don't call it anything at the parts store. It's an electronic module, your options are dealer or salvaged parts, and I'll be you can't get it at the dealer anymore being that old.

I,m wondering same thing? since I drilled a hole to get access to a drivetrain bolt. I found some modules un-plugged and now now lights?
