I have a 93 4.0 I blowed a head gasket. I bought a new set of heads I figured I would put some new injectors so I put it all back together and then I had problems. I bought a cheap set of injectors and I should have not done that. When troubleshooting I found one of the injectors was stuck wide open. I put one of my old injectors back in. Now I'm getting 2 spark plugs burning clean and 4 of them with black soot. I have replaced every sensor under the hood and it's still doing the same thing. I do not have cats on it. Could it be the o2 sensors ?

I would put all the old original injectors back in it. Try not to change parts unless absolutely necessary. As you found out, new parts now are junk. When you have to change parts, make note of what the original problems were and make note later after you change parts. New problems after parts changing usually mean bad new parts.

It is possible to clean and test the injectors spray pattern pretty easily without anything special…

For the spray pattern put a piece of cardboard a few inches in front of the injector once you clean it and give the cardboard a blast. If you keep the same distance with all of them to the cardboard, you can make sure they pattern even

I will say I've had trouble with several different new injectors over the years. Had 2 bad on the Sport trac when I put new ones in. Had 1 stuck open on some Z1 injectors I paid high dollar for on my old Nissan. Unfortunately injectors seem to be hit or miss and not worth cheaping out on in my opinion.

I’m becoming convinced that if you can get stock injectors, maybe just grab a handful from a junkyard and clean/test them all and sock them aside for when you have a problem. Seems like aftermarket is pretty spotty.
