I'm swapping in a '93 Mustang 2.3 in place of the blow 2.3 in my '89 Ranger. I'm swapping over components and thought while everything is apart I'd consider a cleaning of the injectors. Is there anything I can do to the injectors to "spruce" them up. If it were a carb I'd rebuild it. I don't want to install the injectors without paying some sort of attention to them. Any tips or ideas?

Thanks,

Injectors are normally closed so any cleaning off the engine would be just on the surface. To properly clean you need pressurized cleaning fluid connected to the pressure test port on the fuel rail, with the engine running. In our shop we use BG chemicals

We made up a fuel log and just run fuel thur it to check spray pattern. This doesn't really clean them but does allow you to see if they are clean and check spray pattern.Be careful.I know you probably already are but use your ranger cam.

Actually I hadn't thought about the cam. Why would I use one vs. the other?

***EDIT***
I just checked and Sealed Powers replacement cam for both a '89 Ranger and '93 'Stang are the same p/n. So I'm probably ok.

Thanks,

Is your mustang a roller cam?I didn't think they were in the stangs.Anyways, putting in a ranger roller cam is a good upgrade.

Same cam, rockers, distributorless, 8 plug, etc...

Any new cam purchase would quadruple the value of the truck:D

I thought the mustang got a "car cam" which would be more suited to higher RPM's, but I could be wrong... before you toss the engine it's not a bad idea to steal the cam and related parts, should be able to unload them on someone and recoup some money.
