Initial startup hiccup

The past two mornings, my 2000 3.0 started up normally, then a few seconds into it, the rpm's drop and it dies. It starts up again normally and runs great after that. No cel, no codes. I have been leaving the a/c on when the engine was off (overnight) the past couple of days, so I thought I would try a cold startup with the a/c off. Started up normally, and stayed running. Any suggestions?

I haven't noticed a drop in idle speed with the a/c on, but I can feel when the compressor kicks in while driving.

Well, it sounds as if your idle up at A/C on is Ok, except maybe on cold start-up. I would not recommend on A/C at cold start anyway since if compressor kicks on you'll put more pressure on cold/un-lubed bearings. You should feel A/C cycle on/off while driving, even if you only hear the clutch take hold, but the faster you're going the less likely you'll notice it. Cleaning the IAC would not hurt just to see if it could be sticking when cold.
