One of my uncles passed away earlier this week.:sad:We weren't all that close, but he decided to leave me his '94 Ranger. I will be getting it after all the paperwork goes through. It's an extended cab 2wd:annoyed:with a 4.0 and a4ld. My other uncle that lived close to him and worked on it says it runs great. The one bedside is damaged, but I believe I can fix it. The interior is pretty nasty as he was a heavy smoker, but there are plenty in the junkyards around here for replacement parts.

I haven't had a truck for a few months, and I have been wanting to get another one. I just don't know if I should fix this one and keep it or fix it and sell it. Also, 2wd trucks are a LOT harder to sell around here because we get a shitload of snow. The thing is, I also REALLY dislike 2wd trucks and automatics in general. I suppose I could switch from 14" to 15" wheels and get some more aggressive tires.:dunno: I'm open for suggestions.:icon_cheers:

Where are you at? I live by Cleveland and we get a shitload of snow too.. A bit of weight in the back and some decent tires makes all the difference in the world.

Well it seems your uncle left it to you because he figured it would be in good hands.

Id fix it up a bit and run it if it were me, never know where it may take you.

if you realy must have 4wd, you could SAS swap it :) plus 94 is the best of the worst for auto trans, m5od swap would still be cheaper than getting another truck. and as far as interior, if its just smoke damage, you can take it out and clean it with some heavy duty cleaners.

if you dont like it, you can trade it for another ranger.

I think 2wd is fine. Just throw some weight in the back and have at it! Sounds like a good truck to me!

I'd take it off your hands if you really don't like it...but only if it is red, blue or green...any other colour sucks in the snow...and I know a great way to get rid of tobacco smoke...that doesn't require swapping out anything other than a bit of sweat and some elbow grease...

I happen to have a tube of elbow grease for just such an event...

You know what?.....just fix it and enjoy it, Bro. Your uncle gave that to you. I know a bunch of people who never got a thing from a family member who passed away. You are the lucky one.

Especially white. People can't see you.

Well, since it had current plates and insurance, my uncle drove the ranger the 75 miles from his house to mine. I drove him back home and we visited for a few hours. I guess I am going to keep it because I took it for a ride and it does run very good.

It is pretty beat up though and the interior is NASTY. The seats and the carpet are completely beyond help and the headliner is missing. My uncle said when he leaned forward his shirt stuck to the seat, and they are cloth!:bad: The passenger bedside and cab corner are pretty mangled. My uncle said the throttle cable was frayed and stuck at one point, and my late uncle shoved an ice machine through the front of a 7/11.:shok: So, the header panel and grille are busted up, and the front bumper is bent up.

If it didn't run so good, I would say that it should be a parts truck. It's a good thing that I know how to do body work. I guess there was a good reason that my uncle asked me if I was SURE that I wanted it.;missingteeth;

If you drive around much they don't stay white for long. It doesn't take much for the sand and salt to give it a a nice brown two tone... and then once rust sets in the orange contrasts with the white anyway :icon_thumby:

My dd is black and people still pull out in front of me year 'round.
