ingrown toenails

Now THAT is awesome! Sorry, stuff like this is interesting to me. Coincidentally, I'm about to eat some chicken! :icon_rofl:

I've had both sides of my left nail removed by having a thin wedge jammed up the toe nail's side, cut down the edge, and having the roots burned. This, though, caused my toe nail to fall off and now it doesn't grow back correctly, it just kinda bunches up at the root.

Needless to say, I gotta rip it off once every 2 months or so. It hurts, but it's for the best...........

The 2 above are probably gonna get amputated.............. :icon_surprised:
i have the same procedure on one of mine. it was really hurt and damaged from tearing the nail every 2-3 months. now it just grows in the center, like a flat nail and i have to rip it or my socks will lift it like a trucks hood lol.

luckly the other toe wasnt as bad and the nail grows normal.

i get them alot....i bite something and take the cutters to them and cut as much as i can possibly stand then start cutting skin back until i cant see through the blood...soak for a while and eat the pain for a few weeks until its gone....i go through it every 2-3 months

hurts like a bitch, ive had them bad enough i cant wear my boots and can barely walk

yeah ive gotten all the nail out i think. it just will start to heal alittle bit, then get really painful and backtrack..
an older lady said soak it a couple min in ammonia. she said itll hurt like a mofo, but it will help draw the pain out afterwards.
any input on that??

i wouldnt hurt the skin anymore man, ammonia is too much. she says that cuz shes prolly too old to feel hahahaha

ask your lovely date(on the other thread) to give u a feet massage.
not with her feet.

Been here, done this. On one side of both my big toes. They went up the side with the scalpel and burned out the root.

As for what everyone else is saying about not being able to walk and the nail not coming back properly..mine grew back in just fine....and i WALKED out with SHOES ON minutes after the procedure. Not saying it doesn't hurt..but it's not nearly as bad as that.

EDIT: this was about 10+ years ago and the problem never came back.

I think this is probably a "results may vary" procedure.

yeah depends on how bad your fingers are
i had it on both sides of one and one side of the other toe

I have also done this too, but only recently... starting a couple weeks ago i had a bad one, not as bad or severe as any of those pictures, but enough that it hurt like a bitch and i took the clippers to as much of the skin stuff as i could and rinsed it all off, after I did that and it started to scab over, it didn't hurt any more and hasn't hurt since.

Ah, no way on the ammonia, sporto. Use as hot of water as you can with Epsom Salt, and then trim the nail. Douse liberally (the only time you'll EVER hear me use that word) with Hydrogen Peroxide, and then use neosporin or bacitracin ointment on it.

ill be fine as long as it dont get this bad!!!!!!!

"The hideousness of those toes will haunt my dreams forever."

If you can find A&D ointment it'll help promote healing.

I've never had any anywhere near as bad as you guys seem to, but if i feel a nail starting to get sore I'll cut a small V in center with the clippers. It works pretty well to take the pressure off the sides of the nail where it pushed into the toe.

Cut your toenails straight across. It's cutting them in a curve and letting the edge disappear into the meat that causes it.

It's one reason to go to bootcamp I guess. They teach everything by the numbers. I'll give a lecture on shaving and ass wiping in phase 2 of your training.

LOL. Only a vet can appreciate this, Will.

remove them lil bastards, toe nails are primative anyways, my dad had ingrown toe nail issues, almost as bad as that pic, he removed them. i had a mini ingrown ones before, i cutted them out myself and drained the puss, disinfect and was ok after that
