Hi There:
I was wondering if anybody has a picture of the inertia switch for a 05 ranger.
What is its function or purpose? Where is it located?
thanks

That's the fuel shutoff switch in case of an accident, right? On my 07, it is down on the passenger side wall about where your feet go. It's behind a removable panel.

Hi There:
Thanks for the info.My 98 had a fuel shut-off switch located aside off the pass. foot well, never called it a inertia switch though. Thanks for the info.

thats what its called. the switch uses inertia (in the form of a metal ball) to cut the fuel. in sudden deceleration or acceleration movements, the ball bounces up and hits a switch, killing the fuel pump.
