Hi I am a new member and somewhat new to Fords in general. I just swapped a 3.0 in my 1999 ranger for one out of a 1997. I see that the cam synchronizer is longer on the 97, the gear pitch is different and the flag on top of the shaft is thin and wide, rather than narrow and thick like the 1999. So, did I make a bad mistake? Will the 1999 pcm be OK with it? I now have a P1309 code but not sure if it is from this. BTW I installed a new sensor. The truck starts and runs but seems sluggish and is really wasting gas. Is there a better way to deal with this?
Thanks in advance
