In case anyone is interested

He may have some rules to follow regarding the design. He is building it for particular classes of racing. I can't speak to the design of it but the fact that someone is building an easily modified chassis for racing is exciting for someone with goals like mine. Its just exciting. Once its all together and setup to handle itll be a pretty sweet thing to watch that truck tear up corners
+1

Some may see an overbuilt frame.

I see one thats harder for someone like me to **** up. 🤷‍♂️

The geometry on a bunch it is wrong, or at least not very optimal. Might hold together, but there's a huge stress point created where the main frame rails meet the rear axle 'box' or whatever you want to call it....

There is a reason truck frame rails are tall (top to bottom) and narrow (side to side), and also why the frame is arched and bent around the rear axle (instead of a bunch of angular joints). Think he would have been better starting off with a regular truck frame, boxing it, and then adding more reinforcement where needed. The horizontal "x" braces don't really add strength where a truck needs it, just weight, and the factory transmission crossmember would probably be a huge improvement over what's there.

Hope it holds together but can you say 'stress risers?' Probably going to have to put in a bunch of gussets, if it really needs to take a beating off-road. If it's just for show/welding practice, then hey it doesn't matter.

Considering the truck has no cage, and doesn't appear to be in the future plans I really doubt it will be used for any kind of sanctioned racing. Plus I don't know anything that would allow a coyote engine and ifs rear? I think it's just a custom build. I'm not trying to be mean but I just think the frame is hideous. I agree with @MikeG that the rear "subframe" is not linked well to the main section. Lots of square ends, sharp angles, sections cut out instead of being fabricated to fit, open ends of the square tubing, bracing instead of planning etc etc. To me it looks like the plans for the truck changed a bunch of times and he just kept adding to and modifying the frame. I don't see that being any stronger than a customized and boxed oem frame.

It may fall apart and that would be interesting to watch as well but at least the guy is trying. Its more than I would know how to build from scratch and if it works at all I'm sure improvements or a version 2 would come down the road. He claims it will be for autocross/rallycross with custom built skid plates and swapping tires and all that. Its a cool concept if nothing else.

I don't disagree with this. He put a lotta work in, and it's definitely a neat project.

But I call em like I see em.

Just for that, ima drop my new frame off at your place and let you reinforce it.
