For those looking to save a little money on fuel.......
I've been running an experiment in my '99 4x4 XLT (automatic) to try to save a little on gas. I've been tracking my MPG since January on a 28 mile commute that consists of about 85% highway and 15% city. I've been averaging right around 17.2 to 17.5 MPG. The interstate that I drive on has a speed limit of 75 mph, and typically I would drive in the 75 - 80 mph range. I decided to try slowing down a little to see if reducing the drag would make any real difference. After nearly two weeks of commuting at 65 mph instead of 75 my fuel economy is coming in at 20.7. It's amazing to me what a difference it made slowing down. I calculated that this change will save me somewhere around $25 per month. It's not a huge savings, but every little bit helps these days!
