Here’s the pitch, swap the measly 2.9 V6 for a beef cake 3.9 4BT

I’ll give you guys the pause for hollering and wooing.

Anyways I know of the reinforcing the frame, beefing the suspension, body kit so I can shut the hood, front and rear are more than likely staying at 3.73, 33s of the best tire I can find, clean up the cab and bed while it’s skeleton is being worked on. Note: Before the beef cake is put in it’ll be tweaked to 300hp and 550 ft lbs which is pretty decent for an Immortal Ranger am I right? And out of ideas.

Am I missing anything? Does it seem like it’ll be a solid truck? Any ideas or suggestions. Let me know what you think.

I will have the entire thing documented on here for the community and fanmans that might wanna try for it.

Sounds like fun!

What trans/tcase?

I just looked up that motor.....It weighs 750-800 lbs. Holy S$&t

No whooping and hollering here, but it's only going to be as immortal as any other Ranger. In other words it'll only last as long as your maintenance allows it to.

It probably wouldn't hurt to beef up the frame and some stronger front springs might be a good idea, but I'm not sure that anything is needed for a body kit. It's a 4bt not a 6bt. People put V8s into Rangers all the time, while I've never seen a 4bt and a 5.0L side by side I can't see the length being too much different. Height might be a little tight, but I would imagine a cowl hood would provide plenty of clearance if needed at all.

You're already looking at custom driveshafts. I imagine (don't know) that an NV4500 is going to require hacking at the firewall and/or transmission tunnel. If you've got to cut and modify those anyway, set the engine and transmission as far back as possible/practical and build the firewall and tunnel around it. That'll help with balance and shift some of that 800 lbs towards the back.

You don't say your goals or intended purpose for the truck. I question the stock axle handling 300 hp and 500 lb-ft for long. Might consider upgrading to fullsize axles, and using those suspension bits could also help to support the weight. Truck will end up wider by doing that, but considering the brodozers rolling around the state with most of the wheel outside the body...

I don't understand you desire to go diesel (especially 4bt) considering current economics and with diesel over the $4/gal mark, atleast it was last time I filled my F-250. At other times I could understand the allure of the effeciency potentials of diesel, but I don't see those happening with the 4bt selection. I think that by setting your sights on that engine you are probably overlooking a lot of better, lighter, and more effecient diesel engines that can make just as much power. That said I have no idea what those engines are.

It's your truck, and I'm not going to try to stop you.
