so i got this 94 ranger that sounds like and feels like it is goin on 3 cylinders out of 4.
it has new plugs, wires, pcv valve, air filter, and a new egr sensor (dpfe)

i changed the sensor because a couple of codes referred to the voltage of it, after changing it i got the 111 code during KOEO.
did not make a difference in running.
now with engine on i get these codes

332 (R,M) EGR did not open/respond during test or if memory code, did not open intermittantly - EVR or PFE

411 (R) Idle speed system not controlling idle properly (generally idle too high) - ISC

538 (R) System did not receive "goose" test - TESTS

i also pulled each wire 1 x 1 while running to check coil packs for spark and all are firing.
next i decided to check out injectors, i hear them clicking through a tube placed on them to listen, but i figured let me try and disconnect them.
so i did and it seems like #2 is not making a difference when disconnected. when i pull any other it sounds like it is going to stall out.

help help help :bawling:
sorry for the long story but trying to be thorough :headbang:

maybe it is the coils. you can test them with a multimeter. You can bring them to a parts store to test and or you can swap them in the truck. if the truck runs differently then it is one of the coils.

the ICM are also a common issue on these rigs

ALSO CHANGE YOUR FUEL FILTER!!!!!!!!!

is this like my mustang where i have to disconnect something for the pressure before changing the filter

yes....just pull the fuel pump relay, or the fuel inernia switch and then try and start it........hit the FF with some rust penatrotor and you will need the removal tool less than $10 make sure you put the new filter flowing in the correct direction

thanks, i am planning on trying to work on tomorrow. will update after :icon_thumby:

I didnt get to it this weekend but do have a question, i picked up a haynes manual and it says to disconnect a fuel thing located directly behind glovebox and i see nothing there.
what is and where is this that you said to unplug
fuel pump relay, or the fuel inernia switch

That thing behind the glovebox is the fuel inertia switch. You can pop that or the fuel pump relay or pull the fuse for the fuel pump. Then crank the truck over to relieve the pressure

hey hey, so i finally got to working on the truck finally. after testing compression, spark and everything else i moved onto the injectors since #2 plugs were always wet.
my neighbor said it may be opening and closing but not spraying but dripping and not causing a vapor to ignite.
i took it out and put 1 from a 92 stang 2.3 and the motor just sits there idling so smooth it looks like it not even running.
but now i just gotta pick up a new injector since i think the mustand 1 is a different size.

It would probably be best to either get your injectors cleaned or get a new set so they are all working the same just changing one can create a problem down the road. If it was me I would flush the system with good injector cleaner change the filter then put new injectors in then put in new plugs and wires for good measure if you havent already.

How hard was it to remove the injector? did you have to take off the intake manifold to get at it?

i didnt remove the intake, it was a little awkward but not too bad. i renoved the 2 rail bolts and moved the wire harness out of the way and just lifted the rail up.
i did #2 so it was just behind the intake which made it awkward.
i did the swap in about 15- 20 minutes

your Mustang should have the exact same 14lb(grey top) injectors as the Ranger.

they sure do, i went and checked each cars part numbers and they matched.

I changed my injectors for 19#ers from a Bronco and they seem to be working great in there.
