So, the other night the ranger shut down on me in the middle of a rain storm, thought i lost the fuel pump relay because it wouldn't run on either tank but i could hear the high pressure pump kick on.

so, i stood around in the rain for a while trying to fix it, got a nasty infection for my trouble, and couldn't sit for 4 days.

fast forward to today, i just replaced both fuel filters, which were blocked by some funky clay shit, got a gasoline bath for my trouble, melted my brand new strap wrench on the filter canister, and then the truck ran.

for five ****ing seconds.

so, now i've either lost the fuel pump and it's making noise but no pressure, or the switch over valve is busted.

all the pumps click on, i can hear them, but ZERO FUEL PRESSURE at the rail, and i know the lines are clear because they all drained onto me when i was changing the filters, and at least a gallon of gas poured onto me when the bowl was off because i couldn't get out from under the truck without letting it pour on my face, so i had to clean, gasket, and replace the filter without coming out.

So, screw it, i dropped it at a shop, because if i have to take a wrench to this POS one more time in the next month, i'm going to light it on fire and watch it burn.

</rant>

Setting fire to them rarely solves the original problem and often creats a few new ones. Might I suggest a bfh as an alternative approach.

setting fire to it solves all the problems........buy a new (used) one that runs!

Yes but insurance companies and fire departments tend to frown on such antics. :D

I go so mad at the Explorer that led me to swear off Fords that I seriously considered parking it in front of the dealer that sold it to me and lighting it on fire...

I had a 72 F 100 that gave me a hell week that led me to go buy a new truck. It was a 93 Ranger. Truck was great, got in over my head at the time. Sold truck to parents where it gave them 250,000 miles of trouble free existance.

So, I feel ur pain, esp since my B2 did the same thing yesterday. No pressure at the fuel rail. haven't looked at it too closely yet.

Try pullin your pump, reconnect the electrical, have some one prime it and if you get another gas bath the pump is good.

Try a fuel pressure test on the fuel rails. I installed a cheap oil pressure guage to the fuel rail to monitor some stuff that was acting up after my gas tank swap.

How did you go about installing a cheap oil pressure guage to the fuel rail?

What kind of connection did you use to hook it up?

I could...uh you know... burn it for you... of course without your knowledge...

great, 378 dollar fix.

damn fuel pumps.

I lit my truck on fire last night
