so from 0-40km/h my truck has a vibration... i've got a 6" bds lift with 33x13.5 super swampers, 4.0 v6 5spd... it feels almost like a "shudder" and gets worse the harder i accelerate.. all u-joints are good.. new carrier bearing... lowered the carrier bearing as required, tried shimming up and down, makes no difference... clutch was replaced not that long ago... all motor/trans mounts are good.. tried running with stock tires/wheels.. no difference... had 2 journeyman mechs look at it.. cant figure it out.... someone pleaseeeee help me... any suggestions???

i would suspect the rear drive shaft. pull it and drive a little with only the front shaft. take it easy on the skinny pedal, you dont wanna break the front end.

is that safe to do???? haha

i had a u-joint go on my way to work. i had to pull over and pull the rear shaft and drive on the front axle just to make it to work. i put about 50 miles on the front end that day. like i said, just take it easy. i would assume your problem is the carrier bearing. especially since you have a 6" lift and still have a 2pc shaft. i know you said you checked it but i have had them where they would make a racket until i got moving then they were fine. thats what your problem sounds like to me. check this link out

Check you U bolts to see if they have backed off?

considering you are a two piece and replaced the carrierbearing i am going to assume that you had to sepperate your drive shaft. if that was case make sure that when you put it together that your yokes on both ends are in relation to one another, all it takes is for your slip yoke to be off by one or more grooves to create vibration

yah u-bolts are tight, driveline is all in sync.. it just dosnt make sense to me how the rear driveline is creating such a disturbance.. haha

well appraently it is.. just un-hooked the rear d.shaft.. went for a little ride... and it was gone.. soooo whats causing this damn vibration in the rear driveline...

alright so i put the 2-piece back in, tried pretty much every washer(shim) combo from none up to 5.. and she still shakes.. ughhhh

i would still say the carrier bearing. do yourself a favor and get a newer one piece drive shaft.

Here I thought you were listening to the Beach Boys!!
