I had seen some posts in the forums about Truck Night at Yankee Lake (http://www.trucknight.com/). Last night Vanessa, my son and I got a chance to go check it out. We also stopped over and looked at Fireball Truck Nite.

I've decided it's time to give the old Ranger one last hoorah and set it loose in the mud again. The old Ranger hasn't been driven anywhere in over two years.

I'll have to do some stuff to get it ready for Yankee Lake Truck Night. One of my concerns is the rust forming on the shock pistons.

Other than that, my biggest set back is going to be finding a right front axle shaft for the Dana 35. It also needs a hub, but I have one.

Otherwise, I want to replace the front brake lines and put the factory front sheetmetal back on it, change the fluids and some general maintenance.

I got to meet colinrmitchell while I was at Yankee Lake. It's nice to actually get to meet someone from the forum in person. He has an awesome Ranger :icon_thumby:.

Hopefully when I drag the old truck up there to fling a little mud I'll get a chance to meet some of the other forum members that go there from time to time.

I think Vanessa is excited to see the old truck run. She likes the mud and I've never had the truck out with her before. I think she's as pumped to get the old truck back in action as I am.

good luck with it Jim. hope you have lot's of fun. take pic's and post them up. ( emmre cloth on the rust ) i think that's how you spell it. lol

You can't imagine the significance of TRS-1 to some of us. Bring her out, give her a tune up, give her new fluids, and crank her over. I'll be just as happy to see her on the trail again (though prolly through pix)...

When I first lurked here in 2000-ish and then joined in 2002, I looked to the other trucks and TRS-1 for inspiration. That Gen. I is the embodiment of this website, and helped turn me into the quirky RBV enthusiast that no Chevy or import owner understands. Weren't you also conjuring up new plans for the truck some many moons ago?

Thanks for a plethora of awesome info, and keep up the good work. Can't wait to see TRS-1 back in action. She deserves to get dirty again...

Jim, if you need a set of D-35 shafts, PM me.

Thanks.

Vanessa and I are headed for the junkyard here in about an hour to go shopping for parts. I know the owner. He's only going to be there for another 45 minutes, but he'll let me stay in there as long as I need.

I'm going to put the wife to work pulling parts.

Pete,

I'll get you some pics.

I want to know when you take TRS-1 to Yankee. I'll definitely make the trip out to wheel with the grand-master of Rangers! :clapping:

Thanks for the compliment, Jim! You need to fix me up a decal that says,
"I'm so good, I only need two wheels!"

Vanessa will be off July 25th. Actually she's off the 24th and 25th because our 1-year anniversary is the 24th. We plan on taking TRS-1 to Yankee Lake on the 25th. It will be the first time she's seen it offroad and it's first trip to the mud since late 2005. We're going to try to clean it up and make it look presentable again with the original style sheetmetal back on the front.

If anyone here is there on the 25th, please come over and say hello. We'd love to meet you.

Colin, sorry I didn't introduce the wife to you. Sometimes I just forget to introduce her.

I decided to keep TRS-1 a Gen-I. I've gotten a lot of comments from members who think I should leave it as a Gen-I and even the wife is telling me to leave it as a Gen-1.

I could do that. Actually, I was going to send you a new Ranger banner because I noticed yours was messed up from your wipers.

Our trip to the salvage yard was a success. We managed to grab a new axle shaft and a few other small parts we needed.

hell yeah, both are 5 mins from my house, let me know when you are going and ill take mine out in the mud... im there every wk usually

jim i will do my best to have the b2 ready and make the trip out from cleveland.
